OSCE supports regional seminar on disposal of explosive ordnance in Central Asia

ALMATY, 25 August 2015 – A four-day OSCE regional seminar on Advanced Explosive Ordnance Disposal - Level Four began today in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Some 40 military and civilian experts from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Slovenia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom and the United States will discuss best practices in demilitarization, transportation, stockpile management and destruction of conventional ammunition and international ammunition technical guidelines. The event will include a site visit to the Aris Demilitarization Centre near Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

Second group of Explosive Ordnance Disposal instructors trained with OSCE support in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 10 July 2015 – An eight-day regional advanced explosive ordnance disposal level three course for Central Asian trainees facilitated by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan concluded in Dushanbe today.

Eighteen representatives of national armed forces as well as national mine action coordination authorities and supporting agencies from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan completed the training course. It marks the second graduation of international mine action standards certified training instructors in the region.

First group of Explosive Ordnance Disposal instructors trained with OSCE support in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 3 June 2015 – An eight-day regional training course for a Tajik-Dari speaking group of students on Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Level 3 concluded in Dushanbe today. The course was facilitated by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan, and marks the first graduation of training instructors in the region certified according to international mine action standards.

Sixteen students – predominantly from national armed forces, but also the national Mine Action co-ordination authorities and supporting agencies from Tajikistan and Afghanistan completed the course.

First OSCE-supported Regional Explosive Hazards Awareness and Reduction Course completed in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 3 April 2015 – The first five-day regional Explosive Hazards Awareness and Reduction course facilitated by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan concluded in Dushanbe today.

Twenty students – predominantly from the national armed forces of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan - attended the training course. It marks the continuation of a comprehensive two-year train-the-trainer programme implemented in accordance with the international mine action standards (IMAS).
